Warrington coach Steve Price has lavished praise on Gareth Widdop after the halfback steered his team to a 38-18 win over Wakefield.
Widdop scored a try and kicked a perfect seven from seven against Trinity.
The player finished the game also with a try assist, four tackle busts and 100 metres.
“I’m really pleased for Gaz,” Price said.Â
“I feel he’s been the form player in the competition and will be a great asset to England.
“At the moment it’s a reflection of what he did in pre-season. He’s in a good place and playing terrific.”
Earlier this week Widdop was recalled to Shaun Wane’s England squad.
The former St George Illawarra and Melbourne man has scored nine tries this season, the third most in Super League.
He is ranked ninth in the competition for try assists with seven, and is ranked 12th in tackle busts with 35.
Friday night’s victory sees Warrington in fourth place on the Super League ladder with six wins, two losses and a draw from their nine matches.
