The Challenge Cup will be getting a further facelift in 2024, with more changes tipped for the competition.

This year the Cup will move away from double and triple headers at the semi-final stage, with the men’s games to be staged on separate Saturdays and Sundays.

In 2022 there was triple-header at the semi-final stage at Leeds’ Elland Road, where both men’s semi-finals and the women’s final all held at the same venue on the same day.

According to sources, the hope is that the change back to standalone semi-finals will prove popular with fans and mean each match can be held at a neutral ground that works for both clubs.

IMG are looking to revamp the Challenge Cup and next year, it is believed, Super League sides will join the competition at an earlier stage, before the sixth round.

One potential change being considered is having eight groups of three clubs each, with the top clubs from each club going into the quarter-finals.

The next round of the 2023 competition will be played on the weekend of May 19-21, with the quarter-finals set for June 16-18.

The semi-finals this year will take place on July 22 and July 23, with the Cup final scheduled for Wembley on August 12.
