JARED Waerea-Hargreaves accidentally knocked out fellow Hull KR 2025 recruit Lee Kershaw during pre-season training, it has been revealed.
Hargreaves tells rugbyleagehub.com Long Reads he “clipped” Kershaw – now on loan to Castleford – during the winter.
Kershaw tells us: “I can’t think of anyone else who has it knocked it out of me.
“In training … I’d ducked in to carry the ball and he ducked into tackle.
“I don’t remember the next 10, 15 minutes of my life but, you know, that’s part of the job, isn’t it, I guess?”
JWH, the biggest name signing in Super League this year, sheepishly confirmed the incident.
“Well he told the story, right?” the New Zealand international said.
“I just went to make a tackle, mate, and he slipped and I thought it was legit and – yeah – just clipped him a little high.”
Hull KR are undefeated after four rounds, their most recent success a 20-10 win over St Helens at Totally Wicked Stadium on Friday night.
Because the incident happened several weeks ago and before the season started, the RFL’s mandatory stand-down policy did not come into play.
