WHETHER Brad Arthur will stay on as Leeds Rhinos head coach is still up in the air. Lachie Miller clearly hopes he does, though.

Arthur has yet to decide on whether he will return to Australia when his contract expires at the end of the 2025 Betfred Super League season, being torn on whether to head home to support his sons as they make their way as NRL players or continue with the impressive rebuilding job he has overseen so far at Leeds.

That was underlined by the third-placed Rhinos handing league leaders Hull KR only their second defeat of the year with a 14-8 triumph at Sewell Group Craven Park on Sunday, and match-winner Lachie Miller hailed his coach’s impact.

“I really like playing under him, as do as the boys as you can tell,” Miller told Sky Sports.

“You don’t put in performances like that if you don’t get along with the coach.

“He’s just a very easy-going guy, he demands respect and gives respect back.

“Everyone wants to play for him and it’s just really enjoyable to be around the club at the moment.”

Along with scoring the game-clinching try, Leeds fullback Miller made 197 metres with an average gain of seven metres per carry and seven tackle busts, earning the playing of the match award in the process.

The victory made it seven wins out of eight since Leeds were beaten 20-14 at home by Hull KR on April 29, with the only loss since then being an 18-4 defeat away to St Helens two weeks ago.

Miller put a focus on defence on the back of that and the 48-30 win against fourth-placed Leigh Leopards as key to helping them get over the line against this year’s Betfred Challenge Cup winners.

“We’d been building,” Miller said. “Against Saints the other week, they were good and we didn’t have a great game.

“Last week against Leigh, I didn’t think our defence was up to scratch, so we’ve had a big focus on coming down to face the best in the league.

“Our defence has been really good this year. It’s laying the platform and giving our backs something to play off.

“Last time at Headlingley, we played well for 65 minutes and Mikey Lewis picked us off twice and won the game. It’s just pleasing we played for 80 minutes today and got the win.”
