BRISBANE coach Michael Maguire had a gentle dig at critics of his brutal pre-season training regime after the Broncos concluded the regular season with a top four finish.

The former South Sydney and NSW coach was said to be too tough for the Broncos this season, with speculation of dissatisfaction and dissension with one report suggesting former Rabbitohs hooker Issac Luke had suggested he ease off.

But after the 30-14 win which set up a finals clash with Canberra, he said: “Everyone talks about what we’ve done in the pre-season.

“Well, they did work hard because they know that’s what’s required and I think that’s just the building of what we’re trying to put together as a group.

“You get your rewards off the back of that.”

He did not enter into speculation on whether injured stars like Adam Reynolds and Ezra Mam would be back next week.
