WILLIE Peters kept his counsel on the controversies which peppered Sunday’s fiery Hull derby in the Betfred Super League.

The clash at Sewell Group Craven Park saw Hull KR triumph 18-4 over Hull FC to take a big step closer to securing a maiden League Leaders’ Shield in a typically rumbustious meeting between the cross-city rivals.

Hull FC duo Yusuf Aydin and Jordan Rapana, plus Hull KR skipper Elliot Minchella were sin-binned, while Mikey Lewis appeared to be on the receiving end of a stiff-arm from Jack Ashworth while on the ground which neither the on-field officials or video referee deemed worthy of action.

Robins head coach Peters called for more protection for reigning Man of Steel Lewis in his post-match reaction on Sky Sports, but kept most of his thoughts to himself in subsequent interviews.

“There were some things there [the match review panel] will have to have a look at, that’s for sure,” Peters told BBC Radio Humberside.

“That’s all I can say.”

The penalty count ended 7-3 against visitors Hull FC, whose hopes of securing a top-six finish and the play-off place which would come with that are now hanging in the balance with two games of the regular season left.

Head coach John Cartwright put his side’s disciplinary issues in the derby down to frustration.

“When you get back and take the ball up, and get hit on the advantage line continuously, guys get frustrated,” Cartwright told BBC Radio Humberside.

“I get frustrated watching it, but they are the rules.

“We’ve just got to get better at that 10 metres and our ruck speed.”
