TEENAGE sensation Jack Farrimond finished with a 26-point haul as Wigan crushed Castleford – but coach Matty Peet said he was not pushing for selection during the play-offs.

Peet rested England half Harry Smith and gave the 19-year-old a run – and he didn’t let the boss down with two tries and nine goals from 11 attempts in a 62-6 win at Brick Community Stadium.

But when asked on Sky Sports if Farrimond had made a claim to be involved in the finals, Peet said: “Probably not, probably not.

“But he’s done a great job tonight. I went and watch him play for the reserves at Wakefield last week and I just felt the urge to put him in.

“And he deserves it and we’ve got to keep challenging him and giving him opportunities. When he earns them he gets them and he performs that way there.

“He was excellent and I just love the first contact he made in the game.

“He’s got all the talent and the confidence in the world.”

In a foreboding comment for rival teams, Peet said: “I think our best rugby’s ahead of us.”
