Leon Pryce has emerged as the front-runner to take over from Lindsay Anfield as head coach at York Valkyrie.
Anfield is stepping down at York at the end of the Women’s Super League season. According to womensrl.com, Pryce is in the running to replace her.
rugbyleaguehub.com Long Reads understands that the former Great Britain player is the number one candidate for the job.
York officials have stated that nothing was confirmed when contacted today.
Pryce made more than 500 appearances for club and country, from 1998 to 2017.
He had a distinguished career for Bradford, St Helens, Catalans and Hull FC, winning four Super League titles and six Challenge Cups.
Pyrce retired in 2017 and spent two years as coach of Workington Town. He was sacked by Workington in April 2019.
He joined Featherstone Rovers as an assistant coach, under Sean Long, in November 2022 but then left that role in June 2023.
Yesterday York were knocked out of the Women’s Super League semi-finals after going down 12-8 to St Helens.
