Exclusive: Sky Sports will broadcast every Super League game in each round next year, with talks continuing over who will cover production costs for the seventh game.

Super League is expanding from 12 teams to a 14-team competition in 2026, with the move from six games per round to seven. There has been doubt over whether Sky would broadcast the seventh game on each round or not, but rugbyleaguehub.com Long Reads understands Sky has now agreed to show them on television.

However, the extra production cost of broadcasting that extra game each week remains a point of conjecture, according to sources.

It costs around £20,000 to £25,000 to produce a game, meaning total costs for the season of additional games will be around £540,000 to £675,000.

It is believed Sky has offered to pay some of the production costs for the seventh game, but not all, with negotiations continuing on exactly how much the broadcaster will pay.

According to sources, several options are being considered by both Rugby League Commercial and Sky to bridge the gap, but all Super League games in 2026 will remain on Sky.

Super League’s three-year broadcast deal with Sky finishes at the end of next year.
