Former North Wales Crusaders and South Wales Scorpions coach Mike Grady has been appointed as the head coach of new club Salford RLFC.

Salford will compete in the Championship next year after a new club was formed and took over the license when the Super League Red Devils went bust in December.

Grady was head of coach of the Salford Red Devils women’s team for the 2024 and 2025 seasons.

He has held a number of coaching roles in the sport, as an assistant coach at Widnes, Rochdale Hornets and at Newcastle Thunder, as well as head coach of both North Wales and South Wales.

Grady also has representative experience coaching Wales U18s and U19s, and as head coach of the Wales Dragonhearts and the Spanish national team.

Grady is expected to be officially confirmed as the new Salford RLFC boss imminently.

Salford open their Championship campaign at home against Oldham on January 16.
