HULL KR winger Joe Burgess insists porn is “cheap dopamine” and everyone would achieve more if they erased it from their lives.
Before Hull KR’s World Club Challenge win over Brisbane, the 31-year-old raised eye brows by saying one of the improvements he’d made in his life to great effect was to stop looking at explicit material.
Speaking to reporters after scoring a try in Hull KR’s 30-24 win – his 250th career appearance – the England international was happy to expanded on his thoughts.
“Look what it gets you – you stop watching dirty videos and it gets you four trophies!” he told reporters as he left MKM Stadium.
“It’s poison for the mind, it’s cheap dopamine.
“The male hormone, it’s crazy, isn’t it? The testosterone. You’re holding it in and it shows. You feel different.
“As for porn, it’s cheap dopamine, a cheap free release.
“It’s not spoken about enough.
“I’ve been reading the social media comments. I’ve been getting a bit of stick but on the flip side, I’ve got a few messages off friends, randoms, asking about it.
“As embarrassing as it as it is and as funny as it is, it is an issue within men. Maybe women, I’m not so sure.
“But it will be within men and you stop it, as I said, two years later you win four trophies!”
