JAKE Arthur has lifted the lid on what was going on inside Hull FC’s on-field huddles during Sunday’s win over Leeds Rhinos.
The Black and Whites’ players were seen getting together during stoppages in play as they ended a run of four straight defeats in all competitions with a 24-16 victory over the Rhinos at the MKM Stadium.
Halfback Arthur revealed it was all about celebrating the small wins as a team after a tough run of results, and believes it contributed to them getting back to winning ways in Super League.

“We’d spoken about wanting to be a really connected team, so every time we turned them away with an error or defended a set, we just wanted to all get in and celebrate that,” Arthur told BBC Radio Humberside.
“Then every time there was a stoppage in play, John Asiata, Zak Hardaker got control of the group and said we just wanted to complete our next five sets in attack and defence.
“It was a really simple mentality and we just wanted to keep winning 10-minute blocks.
“It worked very well. We spoke about doing the little things and winning the process, and the scoreboard would take care of itself.”
Hull FC now face a Catalans Dragons team who sit one place above them in seventh and are aiming to complete a double over the city’s teams after vanquishing Hull KR in Perpignan last Saturday.
Arthur is determined to continue with the approach which served them so well against Leeds when the Dragons visit the MKM Stadium on Sunday.
“We want to have the same mentality, the way we went after the game and kept it simple, and did all the basics really well,” Arthur said.
“Catalans are in good form… and they probably played a similar style – just a really tough brand of footy.
“We just want to keep doing that and keep building from it.”
