WARRINGTON Wolves had to do it the hard way as they got back to winning ways with a 23-6 victory at home to Wigan Warriors in Super League.
Already without captain George Williams, the hosts were forced to reshuffle on the fly after fullback Cai Taylor-Wray was forced off due to injury.
But two tries from stand-in No 1 Josh Thewlis helped the Wolves bounce back from the previous week’s defeat away to Catalans Dragons in adverse circumstances.

“It was tough,” Thewlis told BBC Radio Five Live Sport. “I think you could see that by the scoreline because it took us until late on in that second half to get up on them.
“But it wasn’t just me changing position, James Bentley went from left back-row to right centre.
“That’s something which is probably going to be missed, but he did a great job out there for us.
“I’ve played a bit of fullback this year as well, so I was comfortable doing that and hopefully Cai’s injury isn’t too bad.”
Albert Hopoate grabbed two tries for Warrington as well to take his tally for the season to six so far, while Marc Sneyd kicked three goals and landed the 50th drop goal of his career to put the home side second in Super League.
Wigan, who have now lost four of their last five games in all competition, only had a converted Zach Ecklersley try to show for their efforts and are now fifth.
