LONDON Broncos have been dealt a crushing blow with their Papua New Guinea Test centres – both newly back from long-term injuries – each ruled out for 10 more weeks.
In a media release issued on Thursday morning, the Jason Demetriou-coached outfit detailed a long casual list headed by Alex Max and Robert Mathias.
Max, who was coughing up blood from a chest injury early in the season, has a PCL knee tear.
Mathias, who suffered a PCL injury earlier in the year and like his centre partner only returned a fortnight ago, now has an MCL and will be sitting alongside Max for two and a half months.
Not only that, star back rower Jack Croft has a broken foot and he’ll be sidelined for the same period.
One of the front-line contenders for a vacant centre spot, Brandon Webster-Mansfield, is also unavailable to play Midlands at Cherry Red Records Stadium on Sunday due to an ankle problem.
Another Kumul, Epel Kapinias, could also be set for a long convalescence with a knee injury, while Marcus Stock (hamstring) and Emarly Bitungane (concussion) are also likely unavailable this week.
