FORMER St George centre Jim Lenihan is the new coach of Huddersfield.
Lenihan is the current coach of Brisbane club Tigers but will leave mid-season and head to the Accu Stadium as the replacement for Luke Robinson who was relieved of his post a month ago.
Lenihan started his Premiership playing career at Gold Coast in 1995 before having three years with Saints. He played 46 first grade games in that time.
In the middle of all that, he played a season at Huddersfield in 1999, making 24 appearances.
Currently 52, he has coached at the Titans and Bureigh Bears.
It has been reported that Canterbury assistant Daniel Holdsworth was the Giants’ first choice but decided to stay at Belmore.
“I’m very proud of Huddersfield and looking forward to going back there in a coaching role,” he told the club’s in-house media team.
“We want to be a team that’s physical and works hard every week.
“Hopefully I’ll be in Huddersfield Monday week. Pretty much a week from now I’ll be getting on a plane.
“I’m looking forward to earning the respect and trust of everyone.”
