A hamstring injury which is likely to sideline Dolphins five-eighth Kodi Nikorimna for several weeks soured a big Magic Round win over South Sydney.
Nikorima was hurt in the first half, at the end of which the Redcliffe-based side held a commanding 20-0 lead at Suncorp Stadium.
He did not return in the second half and this was a period in which the Dolphins were far less dominant, with Wayne Bennett’s side finally able to get onto the scoreboard.
Played largely in driving rain, it was a game Kristian Woolf’s men grabbed early, although their only early points were a Jamayne Isaako goal in the the 13th minute.
Isaako’s goalkicking inflated the scoreline somewhat, with only three tries giving them their advantage at oranges.
After a period of South Sydney ascendancy in the second half, the Dolphins underscored their superiority with Hamis Tabuai-Fidow’s late touchdown and an Isaako penalty.
DOLPHINS 32Â (Cobbo Plath Farnworth Bostock Tabuai-Fidow tries Isaako 5 goals) beat SOUTH SYDNEY 10 (Bentley-Hape Aitken tries Bentley-Hape goal) at Suncorp Stadium.
