PNG Chiefs continue their stunning recruitment drive by hosting former Sydney Roosters centre Joey Manu in Port Moresby.

There was a phalanx of media at Port Moresby Airport to greet the 29-year-old on Tuesday – as has been the case for the likes of Jarome Luaii and Connor Watson – but unlike them, the dual code star did not stop to speak.

“Obviously he’s still playing in France so he just wanted to jump in the car,” Chammas told reporters.

“But we’re obviously very excited.

Cheers Boston

“He’s a great player, we’d love for him … he fits everything we’d want in a Chiefs players.

“We’re really excited to have him here but out of respect for Joey we’re just going to let him enjoy a couple of days with his family here, show him around Port Moresby and hopefully all of Papua New Guinea get around him and show him some love.”

Manu has played 22 Tests for New Zealand. He currently plays for Racing 92 rugby union club in France.
