DOLPHINS centre Jack Bostock has described the win over his local team St George Illawarra as “a pretty poor performance” which won’t “hold up if we’reĀ playing finals footy at the end of the year”.
The Shellharbour junior got to catch up with some family after his side snuck home 28-22 at WIN Stadium – but it was anything but a warm welcome home as he marked veteran Valentine Holmes.
“We probably didn’t show up to play our best footy,” Bostock, who made his Origin debut for New South Wales this year, told ABC Radio.
“They showed up and all but pulled our pants down. It was a close game there in the end. We probably would have liked it to go a bit better our way.
“It was definitely a good effort by the Dragons but not one of our best performances.”
Bostock could see few positives in the performance, with the Dragons leading at stages and snapping at the heals of Kristian Woolf’s men until the death.
“I don’t even think there were many good patches from us tonight, really,” he commented.
“It was a pretty poor performance from ourselves and if you asked all the boys they’d probably say the same.
“It definitely wasn’t our best game and one we need to watch back and see where we can go better because it’s definitely not going to hold up if we’re playing finals footy at the end of the year.”
The Dolphins are currently fifth with 12 wins and seven losses.
