AFTER beating neighbours Leigh, Wigan openly declared their belief they can overtake Leeds and finish the regular season on top of the Super League table.
After wins to the Rhinos and Hull KR last night, Brad Arthur’s men remain on top with 34 competition points and Wigan are just two points adrift.
“These ones all count if you’re trying to win League Leaders’,” said fullback Jai Field, who scored a sizzling individual try in the 20-8 victory at Leigh Sports Village, on Sky.
“Every team sets out to try and win that so fingers crossed.”
Coach Matty Peet didn’t back away from the ambition, saying: “Of course, of course.
“You want to finish as high up the table as you can. You want to win as many games as you can.
“But we’ll only do that by concentrating on being better – Jai, myself, the team.
“It’s great to know there’s that prize at the end of the season. We’ve got a lot of work to do.”
