HE’S been reported to be definitely playing on and definitely retiring but Sydney Roosters veteran Daly Cherry-Evans has moved to clear up the situation.

The Queensland and Australia half will be 38 before a ball is kicked next year. He is contracted for 2026 with an option in 2027.

“Mate, I’ve honestly been taking it week by week,” he told ABC Radio.

“There’s a lot of people in the media trying to predict my future and when I figure it out, I’ll let everyone know.

“And I’ll let my friends and family know first of all!”

Speaking to reporters last week, Roosters coach Trent Robinson said: “We spoke about it last week because there was another report about what had happened.

“Don’t. Don’t start reading it. They aren’t ideal to read but I got asked about it last week, and there hasn’t been that sort of discussion between Chez and the club.

“It’s really nice, you talked about deadlines and all of that, but playing what’s in front of you is really key. The exciting stuff for people to read is the long-term stuff or controversy stuff, but we are in a bit of a zone.”

The Roosters (14-5) host the Bulldogs at Allianz Stadium on Friday.
