SYDNEY Roosters hooker Connor Watson has been ruled out of Sunday’s grand final against Newcastle after failing a HIA in the semi-final win over the Dolphins.

Watson. 30, was initially considered category two HIA but was later deemed category one.

Coach Trent Robinson said Watson would have up until Friday morning to complete all the tests required by the club doctor before being deemed fit to play.

Watson had an appointment Thursday before having a second appointment Friday morning.

Watson did not pass those tests today and has played his last game for the Sydney Roosters, having signed for St George Illawarra for 2027.

Benaiah Ioelu is expected to take Watson’s place in the Roosters’ matchday squad.
