IF WORLD Cup organisers were hoping the wheelchair iteration of the tournament would provide some respite from the criticism over margins, they were in for a disappointment.
In the opening match of the tournament, Ireland were caught offside from the kick-off and the United States scored soon after via Antoine Gray.
And the US hardly saw the ball again in the first half, which ended up 66-6 in favour of the Wolfhounds.
The Americans finally posted their second try with 13 minutes to go via captain Jesse Lind, before which they were trailing 82-6.
Joseph Calcott posted seven tries for the victors, Cian Horgan six.
IRELAND 110 (Calcott 7 Horgan 6 Martin 3 Burton-Carter 2 Mangan Johnston tries Johnston 9 Roberts 5 Horgan goals) beat UNITED STATES 10 (Gray Lind tries Johnstone goal) at WIN Entertainment Centre.
