BOTH sides of Hull’s rugby league divide face a pivotal final two weeks of the Betfred Super League regular season – and all roads lead through Wakefield.
For Hull KR, a victory over play-off chasing Wakefield Trinity at the DIY Kitchens Stadium on Saturday will secure a maiden League Leaders’ Shield.
Hull FC, meanwhile, will be in the unusual position of cheering on their hated cross-city rivals against Daryl Powell’s side, who are a point ahead of them in that sixth and final play-off place.

“We’re always confident,” Hull FC head coach John Cartwright, whose own team host Warrington Wolves on the same day, told BBC Radio Humberside.
“We’re going to have to really dig deep as far as the squad depth is concerned.
“We’ll be there and in there swinging.”
Victory over Warrington coupled with a triumph for the Robins this weekend would lift the Black and Whites a point ahead of Trinity.
Cartwright’s men then host Catalans Dragons in what would be a must-win game, with Wakefield going into their final game of the season at home to financially-stricken Salford Red Devils as heavy favourites.
Their chances of making the Super League play-offs for the first time since 2020 have taken a hit due to suspensions from Sunday’s 18-4 defeat in the Hull derby.
Retiring former New Zealand international Jordan Rapana has been suspended for the final two rounds of the regular season, while Yusuf Aydin and Amir Bourouh have copped one-match bans.
Jack Ashworth, meanwhile, was suspended for seven games by a disciplinary tribunal for his hit on Mikey Lewis in the derby.
In the east of the city, the equation for Saturday is far more simple: Win, and Hull KR are assured of finishing top of the pile.
As well as the prize of the shield, it gives the Robins No 1 seeding for the play-offs, but head coach Willie Peters is still demanding a much-improved showing from the Round 25 derby victory.
“We know it’s there, but the next game is the most important, against Wakefield who have got a lot to play for,” Peters told BBC Radio Humberside.
“They’re a good team and the motivator at the moment is to go there and perform better than we did [against Hull FC].
“We need to improve and we know that.”
