CANBERRA forward Hudson Young has hit out at his widely-debated sin bin dismissal for ‘getting in the face of’ Brisbane’s Reece Walsh, which also led to him being head-butted.

The Raiders have reacted with indignation at the decision of referee Ashley Klein to send Young – along with Walsh – to the sin bin and award the penalty to Brisbane in the 52nd minute of the qualifying final, which the Broncos went on to win by a golden point field goal, after even extra time could not separate the teams.

“If that’s the way they’re gonna go, they need to be consistent with that,” Young told ABC Radio.

“It’s a part of the game. If you make a mistake you should be allowed to sledge someone.

“I’ve never seen someone get sent off before for just mucking around with a mate but it is what it is.”

Despite the Raiders appearing to have the game won three times, only to have it taken off them by reviews, Young was composed and philosophical in the fulltime interview, which has not previously been reported upon.

“That’s what finals are about, these little moments,” he told John Gibbs.

“We had them at 28-12 and that should have been good enough to win the game … with 10 to go. It is what it is. We’re back here next week and we’ll do it out way.”
