Exclusive: Next week’s Rugby League Awards, including the Man of Steel, will not be streamed or broadcast on any platform.
The awards will be held at a dinner at the Hilton Hotel in Manchester on October 7. Mikey Lewis, Jake Connor and Jai Field have been shortlisted for the 2025 Man of Steel award.
The RFL has confirmed to rugbyleaguehub.com Long Reads that the Rugby League Awards, which includes the Women of Steel and Wheels of Steel awards, as well as player, coach and young player of the year gongs for Super League, Women’s Super League, the Championship, League 1 and the Wheelchair Super League, will not be televised or streamed on any channel or digital platform.
No reason was given. In 2023 the Rugby League Awards were streamed live on the RFL’s Our League platform, while in 2022 the awards were shown live on Super League’s YouTube channel.
In 2020 the Man of Steel was broadcast live on Sky Sports.
The RFL has told rugbyleaguehub.com Long Reads that live clips from the awards night will be posted on Super League’s digital channels on Tuesday evening, with Sky Sports News also covering it.
This year the awards night will be hosted by Sky presenter Brian Carney.
