AFTER scoring two tries in a kingsized upset that marked his return from the rugby league wilderness, David Nofoaluma was briefly speechless.

The former Wests Tigers star was a popular man-of-the-match choice as York scored their second win from three Super League matches, 17-16 over Hull at MKM Stadium.

He had been called up under the Knights’ dual registration agreement with Newcastle Thunder, scoring in the ninth and 46th minutes.

“I’m just lost for words, to be honest,” the 32-year-old told Sky Sports.

“I was here two years ago with Salford and it was a bit of a tough period for myself.

“And you know, I took some time away, went to France, then came over here for Championship and then … just so much went into that today.

“They’ve given me the chance to be back on the big stage and I just want to make the most of it. I’m so happy. They’re such great people at this club and I’m so glad I’m able to be here and have the game I did today.”

A late Hull try in terrible conditions narrowed the margin to one point and made for a nervous final 90 seconds.

Coach Mark Applegarth said: “Life’s all about self-belief, isn’t it, and we’ve got a team full of self-belief.”

His rival, John Cartwright, reported on half Aiden Sezer who came off with blurred vision, went back on and was interchanged again.

“He still had some blurred vision at halftime so we just thought the safe option was to put Cade (Cust) out there,” Cartwright said.
