IT WAS supposed to be played in Benidorm. Then it was going to be at Castleford. Now it’s not being played at all.
Castleford have announced this afternoon that the planned Saturday afternoon pre-season clash is off due to the state of the newly-renamed OneBore Stadium.
Only a day ago the Tigers announced fans who would be travelling to Benidorm because of the unavailability of refunds would be able to watch a stream of the game.
The statement reads in full: “Unfortunately, due to weather conditions, we can confirm that Saturday’s friendly game with Oldham has been cancelled.
“The pitch at the OneBore Stadium is currently frozen over and unsafe to play on. Therefore a decision was made this morning to call the game off. We have kept Oldham informed throughout the week as weather conditions have failed to improve.
“Supporters who have purchased the tickets for the game have three options:
“For non members, the value of the ticket can be discounted from a ticket for our season opener vs Wigan at the OneBore Stadium.
“We can exchange this ticket for a ticket to our friendly with Leeds Rhinos on Sunday January 18.
“We can provide a full refund.”
