Michelle Maple has been appointed as the new company secretary for Rugby League Commercial.
Maple, formerly Gibson is well known to the RFL after serving as the secretary of the company that ran the 2022 Rugby League World Cup for five years and for working for the governing body for over a decade.
A company secretary is charged with ensuring legal compliance, maintaining records and facilitating communication.
According to LinkedIn, Maple served as an executive assistant to former RFL chairman Richard Lewis, then as executive assistant to Nigel Wood when he was CEO of the RFL for nearly seven years.
Wood was appointed director of RL Commercial on June 11, according to Companies House.
On 27 June it was announced that Wood had also been appointed as the chairman of RL Commercial, as part of his controversial return to the top of the sport after being ousted in 2018.
Maple also spent five years as executive assistant to Brian Barwick from 2013 to 2018, when he was chairman of the RFL, before spending several years working for Barwick’s consultancy Barwick Media & Sport.
