TEENAGE starlet Owen Dagnall lit up Totally Wicked Stadium in a match his St Helens side had well in hand by halftime.

Local junior Dagnall, 19, scored a first-stanza try against Castleford but it was his 67th-minute score in the 40-0 success which will live in the memory.

Receiving the ball from Tristan Sailor near halfway, the winger embarked on a weaving run before kicking to the left corner and spectacularly winning the race for the ball after a severe change of direction.

Saints hammered another nail into the Tigers’ coffin by scoring almost immediately, via Agnatius Paasi, immediately afterwards.

St Helens were well in control at 28-0 for halftime, with highlights being Tristan Sailor’s flick pass to put Kyle Feldt over and Harry Robertson running 80 metres to touch down.

Josh Simm thought he had broken Castleford’s duck shortly before halftime but the try was ruled out by the video referee.

There was a minute’s silence for iconic broadcaster and St Helens local Ray French before kick-off.
