Exclusive: Wigan Warriors CEO Kris Radlinski has denied claims that his club has taken legal action against the RFL, describing reports of it as “factually incorrect”.

It was reported yesterday by League Express that Wigan owner Mike Danson was understood to have resorted to legal action against the RFL and his fellow Super League clubs, by serving the governing body with a legal letter, to prevent the move to 14 clubs in Super League in 2026.

However, Radlinski has told rugbyleague.com Long Reads today that the claim is wrong.

“That is factually incorrect,” Radlinksi said.

The Warriors abstained from voting in the expansion meeting in late July. Hull KR and Hull FC voted against expansion for 2026, with nine clubs voting for it.

The RFL has now confirmed to rugbyleague.com Long Reads that the reports that Wigan have taken legal action against it are factually incorrect.

Earlier this year, Radlinski met with RFL supremo Nigel Wood, and at the time, said that the mood between powerbrokers at the summit of the sport had been ”very collaborative”.

“Karl Fitzpatrick and I had a coffee with Nigel and it was very positive,” he said in June.

The RFL’s plan for expansion to Super League has been criticised by numerous figures in the sport, including John Minards, Jon Wilkin and Brian Noble.
