BY JOHN DAVIDSON:

Leeds prop Justin Sangere could be out of action for up to four weeks or more after suffering a torn foot muscle against Leigh.

The Rhinos went down 13-6 to the Leopards at Headingley, with Sangere forced from the field in the first half.

These kinds of injuries can take between two to four weeks to heal, if moderate, but up to six to eight weeks if more serious.

Leeds coach Rohan Smith praised the effort of his players in the defeat.

“It was a good contest,” he said.

“A tough, physical game again. We were there or thereabouts. Our defence was excellent against a very good attacking team.

“We probably didn’t execute as well as we would have liked at times.

“We had a lot of young kids playing today and it will help them. I’’m really proud of the effort. There was a few of our boys who were severely under the weather today.

Leeds had a late try to Jarrod O’Connor in the second half disallowed by the video referee.

Smith said: “I’m not sure on that one. It went up a try and most of them get given a try.”
