A SPORTS therapist from Edinburgh gave Scotland the required treatment as he scored four tries in the Bravehearts’ first win over New Zealand in any rugby league discipline.
Callum Davidson led the way in a 62-18 success in the first of four games today at WIN Entertainment Centre. It’s Scotland’s fourth World Cup appearance but first victory.
The closest the Bravehearts have come to beating New Zealand at any level was an 18-18 draw with the Kiwis in Workington during the 2016 Four Nations.
With both sides searching for an first up win – New Zealand making their tournament debut – it was nip and tuck early.
With 11 minutes gone the scores were tied at 12-12.
But Scotland started to accelerate away David Hill, James Simpson-Hill, Max Owen and Davidson before halftime.
Neither side can make the semis but will feature in a full week of place play-offs at the same venue from Tuesday.
Owen bagged a hat-trick.
