SONNY Mellor, a 43-year-old Norway international, scored Australia’s first two tries in their Physical Disability World Cup final victory over New Zealand.
Fullback Bryce Crane, who lost the use of an arm playing rugby league on the Central Coast, was another key destroyer for the Ability Roos, who led 20-12 on the way to their 42-18 win.
The Aussies, playing at Allianz Stadium before the men’s and women’s semi-finals, were cruising at 16-0 eight minutes before halftime.
But the Kiwis managed two touchdowns before the break to remain in the contest.
Crane was named man of the match.
