PLAY was held up for 11 minutes and Wakefield centre Cameron Scott was taken to hospital over a head clash last Friday night – and now he’s been hit again.
Scott was charged with dangerous head contact and will receive penalty points – but no suspension – from the incident, which occurred five minutes after kick-off in Trinity’s 40-22 loss to Leeds at Headingley.
His formal charge was “grade B head contact”, carrying three demerit points and a fine which is expected to be £250.
After the game, 26-year-old Scott issued a statement about his health via social media, saying: “I appreciate all the messages and well wishes. I got discharged at 1am with just a severe concussion thankfully.
“I’d also like to thank the medical staff of Wakefield Trinity and Leeds Rhinos for acting so quickly and professionally in getting me sorted. As players, it really doesn’t go unnoticed.
“It does put things into perspective playing this game when these things happen, so again I appreciate all the messages of support and the help I received on and off the field.”
From the same game, Leeds winger Maika Sivo was charged with grade C head contact – also carrying demerit points and a fine.
The big judiciary news surrounds Wigan’s Ethan Havard, whose grade B head contact charge carried a one-match ban due to loading for previous offences.
He decided to contest the charge with a Challenge Cup semi-final against St Helens coming up this weekend – and was handed five extra demerit points for his troubles.
Elsewhere, Bradford’s Mitch Souter copped a two-match ban for a spear tackle and Hull FC hooker Amir Bourouh will sit out one game for a high shot.
