HULL FC coach John Cartwright says he still hasn’t been given a reason for the club dispensing with his services at the end of this season, adding he feels “betrayed and disrespected”.

Cartwright hosted his regular pre-match media conference on Monday after the Challenge Cup break and ahead of Thursday’s home clash with St Helens.

But the gathering was anything but normal in the wake of his axing on April 7.

“The club have come to a decision that they would part ways at the end of my current contract and that a six-month termination clause would be exercised,” he told reporters.

“That’s pretty much how it happened. I still haven’t been given a reason, to be honest with you. I don’t know. I have asked and I expect to sit down with someone in the not-too-distant future.

“When people know the facts, they can make their own mind up. For me, I probably feel a little bit betrayed and disrespected.”

Ian Judson will provide analysis and a deeper dive into this story on rugbyleaguehub.com tomorrow.
