Catalans Dragons did not get a vote in Wednesday’s meeting on IMG’s proposals but continue to support the plans of the global marketing giant.

As they are not a member of the RFL Council, the Dragons did not get a vote at the special meeting in Huddersfield.

But a club spokesperson confirmed to rugbyleaguehub.com Long Reads that the French side’s support of IMG has not changed.

“The arrival of IMG to the Super League will herald a new dynamic within the sport,” Catalans Dragons sporting director Neil McIlroy said.

“IMG wish to develop clubs in a global way by not simply concentrating on the on-field product as has often been the case in the past. 

“There remain a few details to sort out between us the Clubs, the RFL and IMG but they have a clear ambition and all our discussions with them have been very positive. 

“It’s the beginning of an exciting period for us and for our sport.”

Fellow French club Toulouse, currently competing in the Championship, were also not allowed a vote on IMG’s grading criteria.

The vote was passed with an 86% majority.
