NEW South Wales captain Isaah Yeo has described reports players are unimpressed with coach Laurie Daley as “ridiculous”.
The Blues were hit in the lead-up to their 44-24 loss to Queensland on Wednesday night by a widely amplified report that players found Daley’s addresses to he team “uninspiring” and that his involvement at training had also failed to impress his charges.
“First of all, ridiculous,” back rower Yeo told Triple M.
“But the group at the moment, you do a good job of not reading much. I know it’s hard with the social media but we feel like we’re doing a good job of that.
“You sort of go to the press conference and that’s when you start to realise there (are) those (things).
“Look, we’ve got the utmost confidence and faith in Loz. He instills a lot of belief in us, he instills a lot of confidence in us.
“It’s up to the players to go out and repay that faith.
“What we spoke about at the start of the camp for game two, I thought we did that in patches. Our first half was a lot better than that last game.
“We just missed the mark in the second half, which is disappointing.
“I told the boys it can either fracture us or it can strengthen us. What an opportunity for us.”
The series concludes with the decider at Suncorp Stadium on July 8.
Meanwhile three-try Maroons winger Selwyn Cobbo told Triple M:“I’ve been doing extra cardio away from the club.
“I’ve learned a lot over the years … just making sure I’m fit and it pays off out on the footy field. Yeah, doing a lot of work.”
