WINGER Kyle Feldt has been given a mid-season release at St Helens – while fellow Australian Tristan Sailor is staying for another three years.

Rumours that Feldt, 34, was on the outer at the Brewdog Stadium had circulated for the last week and the widely anticipated news was confirmed on Thursday afternoon.

“The club respects his decision to prioritise personal matters at this time,” Saints said in a statement.

“St.Helens RFC is committed to supporting the well-being of players and staff at all times, and we thank him for his commitment and wish him the very best for the future.”

Sailor, the 27-year-old son of Australian dual-code international Wendell, was meanwhile quoted in a club media release as saying: “It’s really exciting!

“I came here for an opportunity and I’ve absolutely loved my time here. I’m glad to be staying on and continuing to play alongside some of the boys I’ve been with over the past two years.

“Coming over to such an historic club – you had always heard about St.Helens, I certainly did from Jammer [James Graham]….

“I saw coming in last year, the boys who carry values like Jonny Lomax, who is one of the toughest players I’ve played with.

“And you understand what the club is all about.”
