FRANCE’S Dany Denuwelaere scored a remarkable individual try as the Wheelchair World Cup hotshots marched on against unconventional New Zealand.

While most teams at the wheelchair tournament attack like in the running game, fanned out either side of the ruck, the Wheel Kiwis remain deep, circling several metres back – apparently to create uncertainty in the defensive line.

A ball carrier will then barrel in to the defence, which in this game led to many players being thrown from their chairs and – often – the Kiwis fumbling as they attempted to restart play.

In the ninth minute of a 110-10 victory Denuwelaere took the ball deep in his own half and with bewildering speed and swerve, beat just about every player on the Kiwis team.

There was a fair bit of doubt over Kauri Murray’s opening New Zealand try, too, with his right arm appearing to be in touch.

Cheers Boston

Jeremy Bourson bagged six tries, Denuwelaere bagged five, Nicolas Clausells and Jorge Gelade Panzo four each.
