BRADFORD coach Kurt Haggerty admits he still doesn’t know what his best team is as the start of the Super League season approaches – but he’s confident the Bulls will be ready for the new campaign.
Haggerty was only appointed coach in September and the Bulls have had a massive makeover as they prepare for their first season in Super League since 2014.
Bradford have signed 16 new players, with 14 others departing the club.
Haggerty has only had a handful of games to see his new charges in action, a new spine to bed in and has had to also contend with a number of injuries during pre-season.
“There’s two weeks to go and I still don’t know my best team, because we’ve had that many injuries,” he told rugbyleaguehub.com Long Reads.
“We’re very lucky that we’ve had some very challenging games with Leeds – Doncaster who are a really good Championship team – and we’re going to play London who are almost a Super League ready-made team.
“In that sense we’ve had the best practice to get our team ready for Super League.”
Bradford were beaten 46-16 by Leeds last month, defeated Doncaster 30-10 in January and this Sunday face a mouth-watering Challenge Cup tie against the Broncos in London.
Haggerty agrees the Bulls will have a battle on their hands tomorrow with Jason Demetriou’s men, who he praised.
The Cup match will be broadcast live by the BBC.
“They’re a fantastic team,” he said.
“They’ve spent a lot of money and they have some fantastic players.
“They’re a club full of ambition and we fully respect London and what they’re trying to do.
“We’ve got a big challenge on our hands.”
