HUDDERSFIELD have sacked coach Luke Robinson after the Giants’ winless start to the season.
The club issued a two-line statement saying expressions of interest for the position had been called (by March 28) and assistant Andy Kelly would take over in the meantime, then attached a video.
In the video, the appropriately named director for change at the club, Ralph Rimmer, said the club was progressing well but “critically, we need some on-field success as well.
“We’ve launched Giants Unleashed. It now has to mean something off and on the field of play.
“Fantastic man, Luke Robinson. He’s dedicated himself to this club for a long, long time. He’s a legend of this club and will remain so.
“But nevertheless, circumstances have brought about this change.”
Asked what he was looking for in a new coach, Rimmer said: “Someone who gets excited by the club. That’s a starting point.”
He said the club would be in a new stadium by 2030 and indicated the next appointment would be for that period.
“Nobody ever said this was going to be a straight path,” Rimmer continued. “If it was, everybody would do it.
“There will definitely be setbacks along the way. But nevertheless, we are gearing up for genuine success here.
“There is so much to celebrate. We are absolutely on the starting line now.”
Robinson’s most recent result was a 26-14 defeat to Bradford on Saturday night at Odsal Stadium
