Hull KR 36 Huddersfield 6: World champs safely through to play-offs

WORLD champs Hull KR guaranteed themselves a play-off birth in an at-times fiery home clash with Huddersfield.

Elliot Minchella’s jersey was ripped in one dust-up as referee Marcus Griffiths tried to keep a lid on things early in the Robins 36-6 win at Sewell Group Craven Park.

The Robins raced to an 18-0 lead by the 16th minute with tries to Minchella, Arthur Mourgue and Jack Broadbent.

French international Tanguy Zenon crossed just short of halftime for Huddersfield, with Rhyse Martin adding a penalty goal for the home side just after the break.

Then Jez Litten made sure of it by sneaking over in the 62nd minute before Mourgue backed up mid-field movement by Minchella and Tom Amone to plunge over.

Winger Tom Davies scored next as the champs put their foot on the gas.

Going into Friday night’s games, St Helens had a mathematical chance to overtake Rovers but they lost at Leigh so the result across the Pennines was of less significance.
