LONDON coach Jason Demetriou admonished his players over a last-minute decision after they cruised to victory against Sheffield without approaching their apparent potential.
The Broncos scored tries with their first two sets of the game but then went off the boil somewhat on the way to a 48-4 win after leading 28-0 at halftime.
But it was a decision to finish the game with a penalty goal which angered the former South Sydney mentor.
“I wasn’t happy with the two points at the end of the game, to be honest,” he said as his side remained unbeaten in the Championship.
“I feel like the people who paid their money to come and watch us play deserve better than that.
“I would have liked us to go after some points and I’ll be telling the boys that
“We want people to come and watch us play so if we get opportunities to score points, we need to go after it.”
With captain Reagan Campbell-Gillard and halfback Dean Hawkins back from injury, the Broncos were in a mean mood to start with Hawkins finishing off a sweeping movement after only 47 seconds.
A loud bang from the direction of Sheffield coach Craig Lingard could be heard two minutes later when fullback Morea Morea danced over.
But movements began to break down and Sheffield actually threatened the London, losing the ball over the tryline at one stage, instead of the home side executing what had threatened to be a pasting.
Winger Liam Tindall and replacement forward Epel Kapinias did manage further first half tries, while centre Brandon Webster-Mansfield waltzed over from dummy half with no-one defending the blindside.
Morea and Kapinias each completed their try braces in the second half before winger Billy Walkley posted Sheffield’s only points.
Flashy five-eighth Gairo Voro got his share of the spoils and then came the penalty which earned the coach’s ire.
“We talked about coming out with some intent and some aggression,” said Lingard, “and then we got rolled the first two sets and we’re stood behind our sticks.
“We only had the ball 11 times in the first half and made three errors off the back of that.”
Sheffield had to activate their 18th man after losing three players to HIAs.
Demetriou added: “We had a couple of guys coming back from being out for a couple of months and that was evident the back end of the second half in particular.
“We’re consistent (with weekly matches) now until the back end of June so it gives us an opportunity to get some cohesion and get some connection with the group in terms of how we want to play.”
Kumuls stars Robert Matias and Alex Max were both available to play yesterday and will be involved in the 1895 Cup clash with Keighley next Sunday at Richmond Athletic Ground
