Exclusive: Prop Ramon Silva has been released by Castleford Tigers and linked to a move to a new Championship club.
Silva was signed by Castleford in March last year from Barrow Raiders but did not make a single Super League appearance for the Tigers.
rugbyleaguehub.com Long Reads understands the front-rower was released by Castleford in December.
It is believed Silva is closing in on a return to the Championship, with Widnes Vikings one club keen to sign him up.
The 25-year-old forward grew up in London and came through the Broncos system. At the end of 2021 he signed a two-year deal with Wigan as a prospect.
Silva spent the 2022 season on loan at Widnes and North Wales and then made appearances for London and Toulouse in 2023.
In 2024 the prop joined Barrow and made 30 appearances for the Cumbrian club.
The Vikings have been active in the transfer market of late, signing up Hull KR outside back Jumah Sambou on loan and expressing interest in St Helens front-rower Agnatius Paasi.
