Exclusive: Two players are expected to stay with their Super League club and re-sign for next season.
Salford’s Aussie duo Ken Sio and Shane Wright are both off-contract at the end of 2023.
But rugbyleaguehub.com Long Reads understands both are likely to stay put and pen new deals with the Red Devils.
The re-signings will be a boost for Salford who are trying to cement themselves as regular play-off contenders.
Sio has been a big part of the club’s revival and has spent the past four and half seasons at the AJ Bell Stadium.
He helped them get to the 2019 grand final and the 2020 Challenge Cup final.
The winger, who joined from Newcastle Knights at the end of 2018, has scored 70 tries in 86 appearances for the Red Devils.
This season the 32-year-old has managed four tries in nine appearances.
Back-rower Wright joined Salford from North Queensland in 2022.
He has crossed five times in 21 matches for the Red Devils. This season the 27-year-old has bagged four tries in 10 appearances.
Wright is averaging 31.7 tackles, 76.8 metres and 11.3 carriers per game so far in 2023.
Salford have already re-signed several key players this year, including Kallum Watkins, Brodie Croft, Andy Ackers and Jack Ormondroyd.
