CRONULLA winger Ronaldo Mulitalo has couched the elimination final win over North Queensland as an act of revenge with Cowboys players showing the Sharks disrespect the last time the sides met.
“We took it personal – what they’d done to us earlier in the year,” Mulitalo told Triple M, in reference to a 46-34 NQ victory at Queensland Country Bank Stadium on April 24.
“A couple of their boys got in our boys’ faces and I took that personally while I was injured. It was good to come out here and get a result.”
In reference to North Queensland hooker Reed Mahoney, Mulitalo said: “Eighty minutes is the best. Me and him were giving it to each other.
“I let him know. I reminded him what he did and what he said to some of our boys earlier, so…
“That’s the theatre of it, you know? We enjoy it. Off the field, I enjoy having beers with the big fella in Bali so hopefully I’ll catch up with him over the break.
“It’s hard coming from North Queensland and playing us here. Finals footy baby, let’s get it!”
Mulitalo told Channel Nine, in reference to Mahoney: “getting into his head was important”.
The New Zealand Test winger pulled off a crucial late covering tackle on Tom Dearden, saying on radio: “They said wingers can’t tackle.
“I had to put one on for the wingers. Moments like that, you’ve got to turn up for your team-mates.”
